Dental Crowns in Coorparoo

A crown is a type of dental restoration used to fix teeth that have been broken, weakened by decay or contain a very large filling.

Here is how it works:

  1. An impression is taken of the tooth that needs restoring.
  2. A crown is made in the dental laboratory to fit the tooth precisely and match the neighbouring teeth.
  3. The tooth is then prepared and the crown fitted securely on top.

A crown could be a good solution if you have some discoloured fillings and would like to improve their appearance. Crowns can be used to replace these to give you a more appealing smile.

Additionally, if you have had root canal treatment you will need a crown to protect or cap the restored tooth, allowing you to eat and bite down on it as if it was a real tooth. Crowns are also used to anchor a bridge or denture firmly in place in the mouth.

Benefits of Dental Crowns
  • Strengthens remaining tooth structure.
  • Natural-looking restoration.
  • Functions like a real tooth, so you can bite and chew as usual.
Same Day Crowns CEREC
Interested in getting a crown in a single visit?

Then read on, as we introduce our fabulous CEREC technology which enables Brisbane Laser Dentist to offer our patients same-day crowns

With today's busy lifestyle, few of us have the time to visit the dentist for multiple appointments to complete dental-treatments-brisbane. Likewise, having to wait around the dental practice for hours whilst your treatments are performed is also not ideal. At Brisbane General & Laser Dentists we have reduced these potential barriers to dental treatments by using a technology called CEREC. CEREC allows us to offer our patients same-day crowns! Yes, you can get a crown created and fixed in a single day!

What is a crown?

Think of a dental crown much like a cover that goes over the visible part of your tooth. Crowns can be used to repair damaged teeth and cover staining, chips, or tooth fillings. They give the impression of a natural tooth.

What is CEREC?

CEREC is a modern technology that creates high-quality dental restorations, including permanent crowns. CEREC allows us to make, and then fit, these restorations for you while you are at the practice during a shorter, single visit!

Fitting crowns historically involved multiple visits to the dentist: having to take impressions, getting the crown made offsite and bringing you back into the practice to fit the crown. CEREC removes the need for impressions and allows us to make and fit a crown in a single visit.

What are the steps involved with same-day crowns?
  1. The dentist will prepare your tooth or teeth. It is important the tooth is prepared so it will better fit the crown that will be attached to it.
  2. The dentist will take pictures of your teeth, and these are then uploaded to the computerised design unit.
  3. These pictures are then used to create a 3D-model of your new tooth or teeth using specialised software.
  4. The 3D-model is then used by the CEREC machine to create the required crown or crows. The tooth is milled from a block of high-quality ceramic, the colour of which has been chosen to best match your surrounding teeth.
  5. Your crown is then fixed into place by our dentist.
What are the benefits of CEREC and same-day crowns?
  • High precision crowns, such as those produced by CEREC, can help strengthen and support your remaining tooth structure.
  • CEREC is quick and convenient for our patients. It allows us to offer same-day crowns, meaning you should not need additional visits to the practice, or wear a temporary fitting or get anaesthesia multiple times.
  • CEREC procures a beautifully natural-looking crown which is designed to blend in with the rest of your smile.
  • Using CEREC means you will not need to have impressions of your teeth taken! That means no more having to have moulding putty forced into your mouth.
  • CEREC crowns are made of hard-wearing ceramic and should last a long time.

If you need a crown or other dental restoration, feel free to ask our friendly team about your suitability for CEREC and same-day crowns.
